As defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary
1. Asylum- A place of retreat; security
lynch- To put to death (as by hanging) by mob action without legal sanction
The Cleveland Torso Murderer- An unidentified serial killer in Cleveland, Ohio in the 1930's.
Around 12 victims. The killer beheaded and sometimes dismembered his victims.

2. The main focus of this essay is to back up the reasons for why we watch horror films.
King states, " Some of the reasons are simple and obvious. We watch them to show that we can, and that we are not afraid. We also go to reestablish our feelings of essential normality and we go to have fun."
In a way, King is explaining that we go to test ourselves. How far can something go before we can say it had an effect on us? After watching a horror film, a person may think " That was sickening. The creator of this movie must be sick and disturbed." The film was obviously appealing if a person is willing to spend money to see it. Therefore, that makes them just as disturbed.
3. Stephen King makes it clear that " in a civilized society, love, friendship, loyalty and kindness are all emotions that we applaud. When we exhibit these emotions, society showers us with positive reinforcement". Fear is also an emotion, although a negative one, so when one overcomes a fear, should society applaud that as well?

This was a cool comic to read. I did not either expect a comic, i expected a documentary. It was fun to read, especially because it was a story with pictures.
When one exhibits emotions like happiness and loyalty it is known to someone that this emotion has been achieved. Normally when one overcomes a fear he/she doesn't go and tell people who he/she knows that they had a fear and overcame it. I think i they were to have come and tell friends and family that they have overcome a fear in their life that the person would be applauded. Since the friend or family member cares for he/she tehy would also share some happiness and pride that they have overcome taken a huge step in their life and overcome the fear.

When a person overcomes their fears, we call it bravery. This is an emotion which we revere and applaud. Humans are social creatures we rely on praise for doing things that we thought particularly difficult. It gives us a good feeling and strengthens us so we can go on a overcome even greater fears
Those who overcome fear should be more revered than those who are applauded for love, friendship, loyalty and kindness. To overcome fear is to be brave and selfless. Fire fighters and Police officers are respected for this ability. Agreeing with Alexandria, the acceptance and appreciation from others for our deeds is what gives us the power to perform them.
I think that one can go two ways in regards to 'fear'. In our society, if a person exhibits fear and then overcomes it, then such a person is applauded. On the other hand, if one exhibit fear and is then shadowed by it, then such a person is looked down at and sometimes ridiculed for their lack of courage. Fear by itself can neither be applauded or not be applauded, but whatever reaction that follows fear may or may not be applauded.
I think that when someone does overcome a fear that it should be applauded because a fear is like a roadblock in life. When your afraid of something it can alter your life somehow in different ways. So finally when that roadblock is out of the way its a happy thing and one should be proud of that.
i feel that people in society should definitely get applauded when they do something right such as return something that was found back to the lost or even lending someone hand. in today's society most of these thing would be retarded weather with money or even simply a smile however when someone overcomes a fear it is beneficial strictly to that person. it is for this reason that i feel that just because someone has overcome a fear does not mean that this person is necessarily worthy of a reward but rather he should reward himself rather that having to be rewarded by others.

Fear is a strange thing in life. It can, in several ways, hold us back from exploring life and everything it has to offer. People are often applauded for their acts of kindness and love, but as a community we shouldnt need to be applauded for things that we should naturally do, but we are, because society always puts forth ways in which people should judge and view each other. As for applauding someone for overcoming his or her fears depends upon the extent of the fear. We are all faced with obstacles in life that we should overcome. Whether or not we wish to overcome them in order to progress and succeed in life is another story. I believe that fear is only something that holds us back from living the lives we were supposed to lead. Overcoming our fears is just another obstacle that we must deal with in this journey we call "life". Therefore, i dont think that overcoming fear should be applauded unless it is for the mere fact of making someone feel good about themselves.
Overcoming your fear is very self-gratifying. If you have a terrible fear of heights, acrophobia, but are able to fly on a plane, there is a feeling of accomplishment within yourself. You don't need others to congratulate you for it.

Those who overcome fear have made an accomplishment. They should be applauded and set as example for people who feel fear.
hmm when a person overcomes their fears , it's something they took a lot of courage to do and therefore it is labeled as bravery. they are also strong and healed a part of their self esteem that was down and hurt. yes, fear is an emotion along with happiness. It's what we feel and endure. I think that to overcome an obstacle that one was never able to face, is a first step to achieving self accomplishment.
